Barbara
Heskins Davis, PP/ AICP
Vice President of Programs, Barbara Heskins Davis, joined
the Conservancy’s staff in January 1999 and leads the
Partners for Greener Communities program. Her
responsibilities include the supervision and completion
of Open Space and Recreation Plans, Farmland
Preservation Plans and Trails Plans for local
communities. In addition she manages the open space
advising services Morris Land Conservancy provides to 33
communities in six northern New Jersey counties. The
Partners for Greener Communities program has helped
towns preserve over 8,360 acres of land and receive
$143 million in federal, state, and county grants for
land preservation. Barbara is part of a leadership team
that organizes the Morris County Green Table, a forum
where municipalities and land trusts meet to discuss
common goals and projects. She serves on the Board of
Trustees for Morris Tomorrow, a broad-based community
organization focusing on regional issues and building
consensus to improve the quality of life in Morris
County. Barbara has spoken at the New Jersey Land
Conservation Rally, the New Jersey League of
Municipalities Annual Convention, and local workshops
focusing on open space acquisition and planning. She
served on the Randolph Township Open Space Committee
since its inception in 1992 through 2006 and was
Chairperson of that Committee during that time. Barbara
received her Bachelors of Science in Biology and English
from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster,
Pennsylvania in 1984. She earned her Masters of
Environmental Management specializing in Water and Air
Resources from the Duke University School of Forestry
and Environmental Studies in Durham, North Carolina. She
is also a licensed planner.
