Conservancy Summer Internship Opportunity

Position to begin in May

Description:  Intern will assist staff in the completion of municipal Open Space and Recreation Plans, Trail Plans, and Farmland Preservation Plans. Work will take place primarily in the office, with limited fieldwork.

Responsibilities: Research, writing, telephone interviews, data analysis, and mapping with the opportunity to learn computerized mapping via the ArcGIS Geographic Information Systems software program.  Organization and strong writing skills are required.

Students of Environmental Studies, Public Administration, Government, Public Policy, Planning and Land Use will most likely benefit from this internship.  The student will learn how local government works in open space and land use programs.  The student will also learn how a successful nonprofit conservation organization functions.

Internship will be a paid position with the Conservancy. 

Intern will need to provide their own transportation to the office. Workday is between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., hours are flexible, to be decided by the intern with approval of staff supervisor.

Qualifications include: Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.  Knowledge of ArcGIS 9.2 is also helpful, but not a requirement.  Organized and clear writing skills and ability to work independently will be beneficial.
