About the event

Learn about the importance of the American chestnut tree to wildlife, humans, and the ecosystem. The Land Conservancy and our partners will talk about each of our unique roles in reviving the American chestnut. Antinanco will discuss their recently published American chestnut field guide, tree planting, and identification of mature trees all over the state. Visitors will tour the young chestnut forest planted at South Branch Preserve. Dr. Bradley from Rutgers University will explain innovative research to combat tree blight using plant virology. There will be chestnut cookies to eat, and participants can take home a field guide and a chestnut seedling.
