About the event

Spend a quiet Sunday morning seeing the forest through the eyes of a master botanist. We are excited to welcome back Dr. Linda Rohleder of the Wild Woods Restoration Project to lead an educational stroll through the diverse trails of the Nancy Conger West Brook Preserve. This walk is focused on the art of observation. As we explore the New Jersey Highlands, Dr. Rohleder will share her expert identification tricks for recognizing the native wildflowers, shrubs, and trees that define our local landscape. Whether you are a budding naturalist or a longtime enthusiast, you’ll leave with a deeper understanding of the secret language of our native flora and the vital role they play in the ecosystem we are working together to protect.

We are deeply humbled to occupy the land of the native Munsee Lenape.

The Land Conservancy of New Jersey acknowledges Indigenous Peoples as the traditional stewards of the land, and the enduring relationship that exists between them and their traditional territories. The land on which our headquarters sit is the traditional unceded territory of the Munsee Lenape Nation. We also work to preserve land in the traditional territories of the Lenape Haki-nk (Lenni-Lenape) and the Ramapough Lenape Nation.
