land preservation

The Land Conservancy of New Jersey has been assisting landowners with land preservation for 40 years. Since 1997, we have completed over 500 land acquisitions, permanently protecting nearly 30,000 acres of land.

We were the first land trust in New Jersey to receive accreditation from The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, meeting national quality standards for protecting open space lands, upholding the public trust and ensuring that conservation efforts are permanent.

Preserving land is at the heart of our work. Our experienced staff assists landowners with:

  • Land sales

  • Easement sales

  • Donations of land and easements

There is never a fee to landowners for our services. The Land Conservancy of New Jersey works throughout the state helping craft individual, successful conservation packages. And preserving your land has countless benefits. Over the last ten years, landowners have been paid more than $232 million thanks to projects completed with the assistance of The Land Conservancy.

We are deeply humbled to occupy the land of the native Munsee Lenape.

The Land Conservancy of New Jersey acknowledges Indigenous Peoples as the traditional stewards of the land, and the enduring relationship that exists between them and their traditional territories. The land on which our headquarters sit is the traditional unceded territory of the Munsee Lenape Nation. We also work to preserve land in the traditional territories of the Lenape Haki-nk (Lenni-Lenape) and the Ramapough Lenape Nation.
