West Brook Volunteer Day

On Saturday, August 3, we need some strong volunteers to help us remove rocks from under a roadway culvert.  These rocks, which range from the size of a softball to 10 pounds, are backing up the water in the West Brook. We will form a line in the culvert to hand the rocks down and then deposit them out of the culvert and out of the stream.  We will be in the water and will get wet, but we should have a lot of fun!

TLCNJ has been working to restore cold water to the West Brook in West Milford to improve habitat for fish and other wildlife.  Last winter we removed a small dam on a tributary of the West Brook to shrink a manmade pond that had been pouring warm water into the West Brook.  The project was a success, but we want to shrink the pond even further, and this is where you come in.
