Fall Newsletter: Awards Season, Full Moon Hikes, Pedaling for Preservation, and Busy Beavers

Kate Munning

So what's happening at The Land Conservancy of New Jersey this fall? If you follow us, you probably already know that we've been celebrating the National Land Trust Excellence Award we received from our accrediting organization, the Land Trust Alliance. But it's not all partying all the time around here.

We cycled this year's Land Conservancy Fondo in September, observed beavers at work at the source of the South Branch of the Raritan River in October, and enjoyed a full moon hike with 25 of our community members at South Branch Preserve South in November.

We welcomed new trustee Niraj Shah, and our stewardship interns won a Morris Parks Alliance grant for the third year in a row thanks to their persistent work caring for our preserves under Dennis' tutelage. Plus our planning team is busy as ever juggling a number of open space and farmland plans, including one for our friends at Rockaway Township.

Delve into these stories and more by reading the newsletter! As always, we're excited to share our wins and stories with you.

We are deeply humbled to occupy the land of the native Munsee Lenape.

The Land Conservancy of New Jersey acknowledges Indigenous Peoples as the traditional stewards of the land, and the enduring relationship that exists between them and their traditional territories. The land on which our headquarters sit is the traditional unceded territory of the Munsee Lenape Nation. We also work to preserve land in the traditional territories of the Lenape Haki-nk (Lenni-Lenape) and the Ramapough Lenape Nation.
