Jonah McDowell is the most recent Planning Fellow to join the TLCNJ team. Jonah graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's Master of Environmental Studies program in May. His capstone was an analysis and case study of the environmental justice law that New Jersey passed in 2020. He has also studied mapping for environmental justiceskills that will certainly come in handy while working with our planning department. During his time with TLCNJ, Jonah will be focusing on developing open space and recreation plans as well as farmland preservation plans.

Jonah says, "I’m working for The Land Conservancy of New Jersey because I really resonate with the mission of preserving natural land for people to enjoy. I love the outdoors and frequently visit the parks and open spaces in my community. I am humbled to be working for an organization that has done such a great job protecting natural and recreational areas, and look forward to continuing the work!"

Welcome, Jonah!

We are deeply humbled to occupy the land of the native Munsee Lenape.

The Land Conservancy of New Jersey acknowledges Indigenous Peoples as the traditional stewards of the land, and the enduring relationship that exists between them and their traditional territories. The land on which our headquarters sit is the traditional unceded territory of the Munsee Lenape Nation. We also work to preserve land in the traditional territories of the Lenape Haki-nk (Lenni-Lenape) and the Ramapough Lenape Nation.
