Want to work out in nature learning the tenets of conservation work while getting paid? The Land Conservancy of New Jersey is seeking land steward interns from now until mid-November to help our stewardship manager maintain our preserves and get them ready for winter.

Most of the work takes place at South Branch Preserve in Mt. Olive, but you could be traveling to Yards Creek Preserve in Blairstown, Nancy Conger South Branch Preserve in West Milford, and Ramapo Mountain Preserve in Mahwah as well. Work consists of invasive species control, fence repair, trail maintenance, property inspections, baseline inspections, debris removal, community garden maintenance, preserve boundary posting, mowing and weed trimming, as well as other various tasks to maintain our preserves.

We are deeply humbled to occupy the land of the native Munsee Lenape.

The Land Conservancy of New Jersey acknowledges Indigenous Peoples as the traditional stewards of the land, and the enduring relationship that exists between them and their traditional territories. The land on which our headquarters sit is the traditional unceded territory of the Munsee Lenape Nation. We also work to preserve land in the traditional territories of the Lenape Haki-nk (Lenni-Lenape) and the Ramapough Lenape Nation.
