Rita is a recent graduate of Montclair State University, where she achieved her masters in ecology and evolution. Her research involved mapping NJ bobcat habitat using radio collar telemetry in partnership with NJ Department of Fish and Wildlife. When Rita is not interning with The Land Conservancy, she is a wildlife biologist who spends her time outdoors hiking and exploring various habitats to expand her knowledge.
On why she chose to intern with us, she says, “One of the challenges wildlife faces is lack of territory. That’s why I chose TLCNJ. Their preservation projects are crucial to ensuring biodiversity throughout our region, and as a stewardship intern, I am assisting in preserving and restoring critical habitats for wildlife, which will help expand my skill set and make valuable connections.”
