Enviro Day at South Branch Preserve

The Land Conservancy of New Jersey will be holding its first ever “Enviro Day” event at the Community Garden at South Branch Preserve in Mount Olive Township from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. The theme of this event will be sustainability in terms of food production, food waste, land use, and other means. This is a free event, and all are welcome to attend.

At Enviro Day, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about more ways to consume a greater amount of their food from local sources, including growing it in their own backyards. Activities will include demonstrations on how to properly compost, learning about healthy garden soil, and visiting the goats and sheep that are feasting on the invasive species on the Preserve. Additionally, a guided hike around the Preserve will be offered at 12:00 PM, where attendees can learn about the variety of plant species, animal species, and the water resources present in South Branch’s natural ecosystem. On this hike, attendees will have the opportunity to see the Land Conservancy’s work firsthand through the reforestation project and newly seeded butterfly meadows. Attendees will be able to see the vast fields of food being grown by City Green and take a tour of the farm to learn more about what they do.

The Community Garden at South Branch Preserve is located on the corner of US Route 46 and Wolfe Road in Mount Olive Township, New Jersey. Plenty of parking is available, and light refreshments will be served.
