We Won! TLCNJ Awarded Top National Honor

Kate Munning

The Land Conservancy of New Jersey is the proud recipient of the 2024 National Land Trust Excellence Award, presented by the Land Trust Alliance. Each year, this peer-nominated award recognizes one organization’s extraordinary and innovative land conservation successes. It is the most prestigious national honor in the land trust field. The 2024 award celebrates The Land Conservancy’s land preservation program, including our work to preserve Split Rock Mountain for the Ramapo Munsee tribe. It acknowledges our efforts to build future environmental leadership through our scholarship and internship programs, the 200 conservation plans we have developed for communities to guide land conservation throughout the state, and our commitment to engage urban communities in land preservation work by supporting City Green Farm and building an Outdoor Ambassador program.

At the awards ceremony, Land Conservancy President David Epstein emphasized that these accomplishments are only possible through collective effort. He said, “We are unbelievably proud of this once-in-a-lifetime honor, and we would like to express profound gratitude to the dedicated donors, volunteers, and supporters who, along with our amazing staff and board, have worked together tirelessly to make this wonderful day possible.”

We are deeply humbled to occupy the land of the native Munsee Lenape.

The Land Conservancy of New Jersey acknowledges Indigenous Peoples as the traditional stewards of the land, and the enduring relationship that exists between them and their traditional territories. The land on which our headquarters sit is the traditional unceded territory of the Munsee Lenape Nation. We also work to preserve land in the traditional territories of the Lenape Haki-nk (Lenni-Lenape) and the Ramapough Lenape Nation.
