The Land Conservancy of New Jersey is delighted to welcome Mariam Aziz as our newest planning fellow. Mariam recently earned her M.S. in Environment and Sustainability from the University of Michigan and is passionate about GIS, wetlands, environmental planning, and conserving New Jersey’s natural resources.

TLCNJ's planning fellowship program is in its fourth year and continues to be a valuable year-long opportunity for young professionals to learn mapping and creative analysis, working with governments and communities on real-life projects that promote conservation in New Jersey. These fellows enhance the quality of our work and significantly increase the organization’s capacity.

Mariam says, “Growing up in New Jersey, I’ve always appreciated the incredible natural spaces our state has to offer. I’m excited to work with TLCNJ because it allows me to combine my passion for conservation with meaningful projects that help protect these landscapes for both people and wildlife. I’m especially grateful to contribute to an organization that is making a lasting impact across the state!”

We are deeply humbled to occupy the land of the native Munsee Lenape.

The Land Conservancy of New Jersey acknowledges Indigenous Peoples as the traditional stewards of the land, and the enduring relationship that exists between them and their traditional territories. The land on which our headquarters sit is the traditional unceded territory of the Munsee Lenape Nation. We also work to preserve land in the traditional territories of the Lenape Haki-nk (Lenni-Lenape) and the Ramapough Lenape Nation.
