Our beloved leader David Epstein is retiring, and now begins the work of finding someone to usher TLCNJ forward into our next chapter.

The new president will advance the goal of protecting an additional 30,000 acres by 2050, expand TLCNJ’s impact, and support statewide efforts to conserve 500,000 new acres. This role builds on a strong foundation and works closely with a talented staff, engaged board, and broad coalition of partners.

The ideal candidate brings relationship-driven fundraising, strong financial oversight, and a collaborative approach to leading and developing staff. They communicate clearly, translate technical topics for varied audiences, and partner effectively with boards and external stakeholders. Executive-level achievement in conservation, policy, law, or a related field is required; nonprofit management experience is preferred. A bachelor’s degree is required (advanced degree preferred), along with a genuine connection to nature and comfort working in a hybrid environment.

Review the full opportunity description here. TLCNJ offers a competitive salary and benefits. To apply confidentially, submit a resume and cover letter to Kittleman & Associates; use the letter to convey your commitment to TLCNJ’s mission and your impact in prior roles. For best consideration, submit a letter of introduction and current resume to Kittleman & Associates, LLC by June 27, 2026.

We are deeply humbled to occupy the land of the native Munsee Lenape.

The Land Conservancy of New Jersey acknowledges Indigenous Peoples as the traditional stewards of the land, and the enduring relationship that exists between them and their traditional territories. The land on which our headquarters sit is the traditional unceded territory of the Munsee Lenape Nation. We also work to preserve land in the traditional territories of the Lenape Haki-nk (Lenni-Lenape) and the Ramapough Lenape Nation.
